Absorption Enhancers
Absorption enhancing agents encompass a broad class of surfactants or surface-active agents, carrier or absorption agents that allow non-invasive systemic delivery of potent peptide, protein, and large molecule drugs that were previously only deliverable by injection. In recent years nasal surfactants have been researched for delivery of drug using the nasal mucosa. Enhancers have ranged from bile salts, fatty acids – their derivatives, cyclodextims to chitosan.

Mystic has initiated a research and development project to evaluate the use of absorption enhancing technology to improve bioavailability of its intranasal products.
